Founding Organization

CAR was conceived by the owner of Rad Rods of Norcal Inc. with the goal of making it into what is now the nation’s first non-profit vocational training program of its type. Rad Rods is a successful California business focusing on uniquely challenging automobile rebuilds, priced to be the lowest “legal rate” licensed automobile shop in Sonoma County based on BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair).  For more information about its charitable status, visit HERE.

Radrods of NorCal is the hosting shop facility that offers its expertise for the benefit of the CAR Program. That stand-alone non-profit program’s continuing support comes from the community at large and reputable local citizens such as Dale Collins (Reliable Hardware), Dave’s Discount Auto Parts, Rick and Abby Guanella, Rick and Les McLea, Daniel and Richard O’Hara (McAvoy and O’Hara Mortuary), Catherine Speaks and Eric Sebolds (Sonoma County Sheriff), Catt Tripoli (Power House Gym), Sandy Swallow (Broker Associate of Sotheby’s International Realty), Jack Thornton of Mount Tamalpais Mortuary, and Drake Denzell (current Director of Intake at R House).

The independent CAR Program business model is designed around making classic car restoration and hot rod design truly accessible to the more moderate pocket books of middle class America. By consulting with everyday drivers and classic car aficionados, we develop a workable budget and service package to help each customer achieve his or her desired goals as an owner of a “car of their dreams.”
